Early morning call highlights importance of CO alarms

A reminder to make sure you having working CO alarms in your home.

Members of Point Edward Fire and Rescue were called to a home on Charles Street at around 12:30 a.m. Monday for an activated carbon monoxide detector.

When firefighters arrived, they measured readings of CO in the home and determined the cause was a faulty furnace.

In a post to social media, the fire department credits the working alarm alerting the resident to the issue, allowing them to quickly contact 911.

CO poisoning is the leading cause of accidental death in Canada.
