The Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign has entered the final stretch.
Volunteer President Jason Killingsworth said there are just over three weeks left in the annual fundraising effort, and so far just over $1.2 million has been raised.
"The great news is now we are over 80 per cent of our $1.5 million goal, the concerning part is that we are still tracking behind last year's pace by about $80,000," said Killingsworth. "The final stretch is often the toughest. While many workplace campaigns have wrapped up and early donors have already stepped up, the need for support still remains urgent."
A total of 16 local agencies receive funding from the United Way including the Inn of the Good Shepherd, Lambton Elderly Outreach and BGC Sarnia-Lambton.
The annual campaign runs until the end of the year, and Killingsworth said there is still time to contribute.
"So while surpassing the $1 million mark is a major accomplishment, we still need the support of our entire community to reach our goal and be able to continue to provide all the vital programs addressing poverty, mental health, food insecurity, housing stability and support for our local seniors."
