It was another record breaking year for Literacy Lambton's Give-a-Book campaign.
The initiative brought in 4,800 new books that will be gifted to babies to teens in Lambton County via 42 frontline partners.
The organization said that's up an additional 150 books from 2024, with four new partners added to the mix.
The goal of the campaign is to ensure every child in Sarnia-Lambton may experience the joy of unwrapping a new book this holiday season.
Literacy Lambton Executive Director Tracy Pound said the campaign has come a long way since generating 2,253 books in its inaugural year in 2020.
"This year’s goal was set at 4,700 and here we are, ending the campaign with a staggering 4,800 donations," said Pound. "The numbers tell a story of what a giving and generous community we live in here in Lambton County. From private donors, women’s groups, church groups, book clubs, service clubs like the Rotary Club of Sarnia Bluewaterland, the Rotary Club of Petrolia, Optimist Club of Sarnia Lakeshore, and huge supporters like ARLANXEO Performance Elastomers."
Pound thanked the volunteers and the dedicated staffers at The Book Keeper and Coles in Lambton Mall for all of their support.
