Sarnia police have arrested a suspect in a daytime break and enter to a home on Ross Avenue.
Officers were called to the residence just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said the 69-year-old homeowner was in his detached garage and, when he went inside the house, he saw a man walking down the stairs.
The suspect ran eastbound on Ross Avenue, and a nearby homeowner told police he was in their backyard.
A suspect was eventually arrested on Russell Street, and police said he was behaving erratically and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.
Police said a search of the suspect turned up drug paraphernalia, as well as a cellphone and a harmonica which had been stolen from the original victim’s house.
A 44-year-old man, of no fixed address, was held for bail on charges of break and enter and two counts of breaching probation.
Following his bail hearing, he was remanded into custody by the court.
