Forest's McGregor co-captaining Para hockey team in Italy

Forest's Tyler McGregor will once again be suiting up for Team Canada on the international stage.

He was one of 17 players named to the men's Para ice hockey team to compete in the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.

McGregor, who helped Canada capture a silver medal at the 2022 games in Beijing, is one of five co-captains this year.

In a news release, McGregor said being named to his fourth Paralympic Games is an incredible honour.

"It means everything to me," said McGregor. "Every athlete on this team has put in the work and made sacrifices to get to this moment. We believe in each other, we believe in our preparation, and we're motivated by the opportunity to compete for Canada on the world's biggest stage. Our focus is on coming together as a team, playing our game and doing everything we can to bring home a gold medal."

The roster also includes Essex native Zach Lavin and veterans Greg Westlake and Adam Dixon. The full list of players can be found here.

Senior Vice President of High Performance and Hockey Operations Scott Salmond provided his input on the roster.

"We are incredibly proud to announce the athletes who will represent Canada in Para hockey at the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games," said Salmond. "This roster reflects years of dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence. The group has shown tremendous growth and belief in one another, and we are excited about the opportunity ahead. Our goal is clear—to compete with pride, represent our country with distinction and give ourselves the best possible chance to bring home a gold medal for Canada."

Canada will be hoping to secure gold in Para ice hockey for the first time since 2006. They claimed bronze in 2014 and silver in 2018.

Canada will play in Group B alongside Czechia, Japan and Slovakia, with preliminary round games scheduled for March 7 to 9.

The semifinals will be played on March 13, with the medal games on March 15.
