The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) Local Committee has unveiled the official logo for the 2027 agricultural event being held in Brigden.
The 2027 logo was inspired by the design concept submitted by Alyssa DeCiantis during last year's contest.
"The selection of our logo is an important milestone as we start to plan our marketing materials in the lead up to the 2027 IPM,” said Local Committee Marketing Co-Chair Don Lunn. “The IPM is the largest outdoor event of its kind in Canada, and Lambton County’s residents and visitors will be seeing the 2027 IPM logo on everything from signage to social media and souvenir merchandise like hats and hoodies.”
The 2027 design incorporates the Ontario Plowmen’s Association logo, which features a tractor and plow. The design also includes the iconic Plowman statue, wheat stalks, and the geographic outline of Lambton County.
DeCiantis will receive a cash prize for winning the contest, along with 2027 IPM souvenirs and admission passes.
The local event is scheduled to take place from September 21, 2027, to September 25, 2027.
Lunn said so far, committees have been formed for promotional souvenirs, the cookbook, beautification, and the Queen of the Furrow competition.
"Right now, we're looking for people to sit on our committees to get a more varied source of ideas," Lunn said.
During the week of the plowing Match, Lunn said they'll need approximately 400 volunteers.
Those interested in becoming a committee member or volunteer are encouraged to visit the IPM's website.
"We're expecting a minimum of 50,000 [attendees] and hopefully, shooting for 100,000," said Lunn.
It's been over 30 years since the IPM has been held in Lambton County.
The "tented city" will be set up at the Brigden Fairgrounds and will house vendors, displays, and workshops.
Lunn said they're working with local farmers to rent land around the fairgrounds for the plowing competitions to be held.
Meanwhile, this year's IPM will be held in Bruce County from September 22 to September 26.
