CBSA reports 111.4 kg cocaine seizure at BWB

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is reporting a significant cocaine seizure at the Blue Water Bridge (BWB).

During the secondary examination of a tractor trailer on February 19, officers seized 111.4 kilograms of the drug entering Canada.

A 29-year-old from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and a 25-year-old from Belleville have been charged with importation of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The CBSA said both suspects and the drugs were transferred to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Both matters are currently before the courts, and the charges have not been proven.

CBSA Regional Director General for Southern Ontario Region Michael Prosia commented on the seizure in a news release.

"This significant cocaine seizure highlights the critical role the CBSA plays in disrupting the flow of illegal drugs into Canada and keeping our communities safe," said Prosia. "The vigilance and dedication of border services officers in southern Ontario is protecting and securing our border."

Since January 1, 2025, border services officers in CBSA’s Southern Ontario Region have seized 1,743 kg of cocaine coming from the United States.
