Formal shoes needed for Red Carpet Ready pop-up

Sarnia-Lambton Rebound is appealing for men's and boy's dress shoes ahead of its Red Carpet Ready Pop-Up Shop next week.

Coordinator Nicole McLean said they've received a lot of suits, but they don't have enough dress shoes to complete every ensemble.

The local initiative, formerly known as the Cinderella Project, provides lightly used formal wear for those between the ages of 13 and 24, free of charge.

"We do try to market toward Grade 8 grad and prom/graduation for our Grade 12s, but if others in that age range are needing something, we welcome them to join us as well," McLean said.

Initially, donations were only going to be accepted until March 6 but because of the need for formal shoes, donations will be accepted until March 13.

Formal shoes for sizes seven to 13 are especially needed. They can be dropped off at Rebound, located at 10 Lorne Cres. in Sarnia, Monday through Friday.

The pop-up shops are scheduled to take place from March 13 to March 15 at the Dante Club in Sarnia.

McLean said as of Wednesday, 110 people had pre-registered to attend.

"We still have some time slots left on Sunday (March 15)," McLean said. "We will go with our appointments schedule first, and as we can accommodate, we'll allow walk-ins to come in as well."

The initiative has been held within the community for about a decade. However, 2025 was the first year the shop started offering masculine attire.

"So we have seen an upswing in people using our project since then," McLean said.

Youth can register to attend the pop-up online through Calendly.
