Teens charged in assault

Two minors are facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to mace a teenage girl.

Sarnia police responded to Indian Road and Wellington Street after reports of two teenage boys threatening to use 'bear mace' at 3:11 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the teen boys and a girl exchanged messages on social media, and the suspects threatened to come to her location and 'mace' her.

According to officers, the victim confronted the pair on Wellington Street, where they pulled out what she believed to be bear mace and sprayed it in her direction before running away.

She was not injured as the air had dissipated the substance before reaching her.

The two boys were found running on Vimy Crescent. Police identified them and two canisters of wasp spray wrapped in duct tape were found on them.

The pair was bound by a previous court order not to possess weapons and not to communicate with each other.

The teens, 14 and 15-years-old, are charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, administering a noxious substance, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

The accused were released with conditions.
