LKDSB hosting March Break camps

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) will be hosting several camps for students during the March Break.

"The camps are designed for students in grades three to six, and they're really about supporting student connection and engagement, and an opportunity for families to have their children engage in learning, social, and emotional connections," said Superintendent of Education, Student Support Services and Well-Being Angie Barrese.

The March Break Engagement Days are run by LKDSB educators as well as Social Work team members.

"Our ABA team, which is our applied behaviour analysis team, work with both neurotypical and neurodiverse students across our system, and this camp is all inclusive, so all children of any ability and or age range are welcome to join us," said Barrese.

The focus of the camps is offering fun-filled learning activities that support the development of positive peer connections and engagement in leisure activities.

"There'll be some physical components to that, some snacks, but it's really about engaging students to learn through play and through opportunities to work collaboratively with their peers," she said. "There'll be a variety of spaces within the school setting that students will move to and work within."

Camps will be held on Tuesday, March 17, at Lansdowne Public School in Sarnia, Wednesday, March 18, at Queen Elizabeth II Public School in Petrolia, and on Thursday, March 19 at Indian Creek Road Public School in Chatham.

Students are invited to attend the free sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on one, two, or all three days. Lunch will be provided.

To register, visit the LKDSB website.
