Aamjiwnaang raises concerns as pipeline returns to service

Aamjiwnaang First Nation is expressing concern after the pipeline that leaked into the St. Clair River has been returned to regular use and service.

Aamjiwnaang Band Council said in a news release that the pipeline was returned to service without the community receiving clear and complete information about the impacts of the leak or confirmation that it has been fully resolved.

The release stated that the council is working to ensure the situation is addressed in a manner that meets the highest standards of environmental protection, transparency, and accountability.

It also said Aamjiwnaang is dismayed that the Technical Standards and Safety Authority made this decision without addressing the Nation’s concerns or responding to recent communications.
