The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) has seized drugs, cash, and a sawed off shotgun from a man who they refer to as a local drug trafficker.
On Thursday, just after 9 p.m., police arrested a man 34-year-old Cody Brandon Anderson, who allegedly had 28.01 grams of para-fluorofentanyl, $1,228 in cash, drug packaging, a folding knife, and a digital scale.
Police said members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at the suspect's Kathleen Avenue residence.
Officers confiscated a loaded sawed-off shotgun, shotgun ammunition, drug packaging, 1.55 grams of crystal methamphetamine, digital scales, $6,770 in cash, a collapsible baton, nunchucks, and brass knuckles.
Police said a TruNarc device was used to test the seized fentanyl, which confirmed it as para-fluorofentanyl, a high-potency, uncut form of the drug.
The total quantity seized was 43.82 grams, with an approximate street value of $8,800.
Anderson was held for bail and is facing the following charges:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance (Fentanyl)
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (sawed-off shotgun)
- Possession of a firearm, knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm or ammunition (2 counts)
- Possession of a prohibited weapon (2 counts)
- Possession of a weapon or ammunition contrary to order (4 counts)
- Fail to comply with probation (7 counts)
Following his bail hearing, Anderson was remanded into custody by the court.
SPS Chief Derek Davis said this is the second search warrant at the residence within the past eight months.
"Our community knows too well the terrible tragedies that can occur when criminal elements are present in our city. I commend our Drug Unit for getting more drugs and weapons off our streets," said Chief Davis.
