Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby celebrates 50 years

The Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby is hoping to make a big splash for it's 50th anniversary this year.

The 2026 edition runs until Sunday, May 10 and will offer over $60,000 in cash and merchandise prizes for dozens of lucky anglers.

All the profits from the derby will go towards operating the hatchery in Point Edward.

You can cast a line in the St. Clair River south to the south end of Fawn Island, and in Lake Huron from the water treatment plant at Grand Bend west to north of Lexington, Michigan.

Official weigh-in stations are located in Sarnia and Port Franks and prizes will be awarded in five categories.

The angler with the biggest salmon will take home $7,500, courtesy of the Village of Point Edward.

Over 1,000 fish were entered in the annual derby last year.

Derby tickets must be purchased at least one day before participating in the event.

Further details are posted on the Bluewater Anglers website.
