Lambton College receives $100K grant to support equity, diversity in research

Lambton College will work with two other schools in Ontario to strengthen equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) training practices in research environments.

The Sarnia-Lambton school was recently awarded $100,000 in grant funding through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada's Dimensions program.

Lambton College was one of only two colleges in Canada, and the only one in Ontario, to receive the grant.

As part of the one-year project, Lambton College will work with Fanshawe College and Mohawk College to assess current training practices, co-develop enhanced training, and demonstrate mentorship strategies.

The goal is to provide the tools and resources needed to support diversity and inclusion and drive more innovative and impactful research outcomes, read a media release.

“This investment reflects our shared commitment to building inclusive environments where all individuals can thrive,” said Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Success Dr. Dave Machacek. “Being selected as one of only two colleges in Canada to lead a Dimensions Grant project is a significant achievement that recognizes the strength of our applied research leadership and our commitment to embedding EDI into research practices in meaningful and measurable ways.”

In total, 11 Dimensions Grants were awarded across the country. The program supports postsecondary institutions in advancing EDI.
