Stepping up for a cure: Sarnia’s Huntington’s Disease walk returns Sunday

Local residents are lacing up to find a cure for Huntington's Disease (HD).

The Sarnia and area Huntington Society of Canada (HSC) Chapter will host its community awareness walk on Sunday, May 24.

Kickoff festivities and registration open at 12:30 p.m. at the gazebo next to the Sarnia and District Humane Society, with the walk scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

There will also be live music and a barbecue for participants.

May is Huntington's Disease Awareness Month.

According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, about 6,000 Canadians are living with the rare, progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disorder.

Money raised from Sunday's walk will support the Huntington Society of Canada (HSC).

To register in advance or to donate, visit the Sarnia Huntington's walk website.
