Bluewater Health Foundation has launched a new summer lottery to help fund new equipment for non-invasive medical tests.
Lottery Coordinator Tabitha Brinn said they're giving supporters a chance to win a new car.
"This is the first time that we're actually doing a stand alone car lottery," said Brinn. "We are giving away a 2026 BMW X1."
"We wanted to try something just a little bit different," she added. "We normally run our spring 50-50 and that's done pretty well, but we wanted to try something new, so we decided to partner again with BMW Sarnia. They're just great partners of ours. We work with them on the dream home and they've been great donors and supporters. So, it just felt like it could be a really fun one to run during the summer."
Brinn said they have 10,000 tickets available, with prices starting at $25.
"Tickets are on sale until July 23, with the grand prize draw taking place on July 24. There is two early bird [draws] as well. So, you have the chance to win $5,000 cash two times; one draw happening June 12 [and] one June 26," she said.
Brinn said they can be purchased at the foundation office in the Sarnia hospital, or if you see them at pop up events throughout Sarnia-Lambton
Money raised from the lottery will support a campaign to enhance services for local patients.
"Funds from this lottery are supporting diagnostic imaging at Bluewater Health, specifically for the second MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) that we just announced," Brinn said.
The hospital's Medical Director, Diagnostic Imaging Youssef Almalki revealed the Sarnia site was getting a second MRI machine at the foundation's gala on May 7.
Following renovations and installation, the unit is expected to become operational by mid-to-late 2027.
The foundation's car lottery has launched alongside Sarnia-Lambton Rebound's Wheels of Summer Raffle.
"Great minds think alike, and we both had an idea to run a car raffle, not knowing each other were doing it," Brinn said. "So, we're going to be working together and creating some unique summer community fundraising initiatives jointly, because they're both great organizations."
