SLEP summit focuses on business growth and transition

Local business owners, entrepreneurs, and industry experts will gather on Wednesday for the highly anticipated Legacy & Leadership Summit: Spring Momentum.

Hosted by the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP), the half-day event aims to deliver practical strategies for navigating the modern business lifecycle.

It's built for current business owners and new entrepreneurs and covers everything from starting a business plan to passing a company down to the next generation.

Speakers will include Dr. Michael Rondinelli of Huron Dental Group who will talk about expanding through acquisitions and managing the responsibilities of business ownership.

Alex Weber of Cosmo’s Café will address business ownership and burnout through a live stand-up comedy performance.

Brandon Breslow from RBC will speak about preparing for mergers and acquisitions, and panelists Heather Bourrie (J.D. Lawn Service), Katie Kern (Kern Water), Rick Perdeaux and Justine Clark (Toolrite Engineering) will discuss leadership, succession, scaling and navigating transition.

There will also be a government spotlight session to connect attendees with advisory services and public funding programs.

SLEP CEO Matthew Slotwinski said attendees will also have the chance to connect with buyers, advisors, and government program representatives.

“Business owners are making decisions today that will shape not just the livelihood of themselves and their employees, but also the long-term strength of our local economy,” said Slotwinski. “This summit creates a space to bring those decisions into focus across the entire business ownership lifecycle. It connects owners with the right people, the right information, and the right supports to move forward, grow, and eventually exit with clarity and confidence."

SLEP Economic Development Officer Chantelle Core said it'll be a big help for local entrepreneurs.

"This event is designed to be practical and relevant to what business owners are facing right now," said Core. "We are bringing together real experiences, local expertise, and accessible supports in one setting. The goal is to help owners take the next step, whether that is planning for growth, preparing for transition, or exploring new opportunities."

The summit runs from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton in Point Edward, and includes breakfast and the chance to network.

SLEP said registration is free, thanks to sponsors Sun Life and RBC.

You can find more information, and register, on SLEP's website.
