Lambton County will host its second annual Work Local, Live Better, Business and Career Expo this week.
Lambton Employment Services Program Supervisor Lisa Jacaruso said it gives communities the opportunity to showcase local services, employment opportunities and community resources.
"Our first expo had over 100 attendees and received great feedback from both residents and our vendors," said Jacaruso. "Attendees really enjoyed the fun, interactive atmosphere, access to active jobs and learning about new local services, that they might not otherwise have known about."
The first free expo was held last year in Watford.
Jacaruso said the vision is to rotate the event through rural Lambton County communities.
"Our expos are designed to connect rural residents with local jobs, training options and support services that help strengthen quality of life, and local connections," she said. "We've heard from rural areas that barriers can exist in accessing jobs and services, like transportation. So, we're bringing employers and community organizations directly to them."
Lambton College, Langs Bus Lines and Service Canada are just some of the exhibitors that are lined up for Thursday.
A full list of vendors is available on Lambton Works Centre's Facebook page.
The free event will be held at the Greenwood Recreation Centre from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Jacaruso said job seekers are encouraged to bring along their resumes.
And, those who want to prepare in advance can attend a workshop before the expo from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
