The connection between the development of the automobile and the oil industry will be explored at the Oil Museum of Canada on Friday.
The National Historic Site will host a special PA Day program called "Rev It Up!" on June 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Educational Program Coordinator Christina Sydorko said events like this bring history to life by combining hands-on activities with real stories from the past.
"Families will learn how industries like oil and transportation helped shape the world we live in today, while spending time together and expressing their creativity at the same time," Sydorko said.
The widespread adoption of gasoline-powered vehicles played a key role in driving demand for petroleum products throughout much of the 20th century.
Sydorko said this event will highlight this important relationship through interactive learning and hands-on activities.
Participants will explore how combustion engines work through the museum’s online interactive program, then put their creativity to the test with hands-on activities including constructing and racing cardboard cars, designing paper race cars, and testing their knowledge about the automotive and petroleum industries.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (65+) and students, $3 for children, and children aged three and under are free.
