Two people from the Greater Toronto Area are facing charges after Sarnia police say they tried to evade arrest in a drug case.
On Monday, at around 7:50 p.m., members of the Emergency Response, Canine,and Drug units were investigating a vehicle with two suspects inside who were believed to be in possession of controlled substances.
When police went to make arrests, the driver allegedly backed into a cruiser causing significant front end damage.
Police said the pair ran but were eventually taken into custody after a struggle.
Officers allegedly seized three oxycodone pills, 11.52 grams of cocaine, 30.34 grams of crystal methamphetamine, several cell phones, drug packaging materials, $5,720 in Canadian currency as well as a black Husky folding knife.
A 26-year-old man from North York was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule one substance, resisting arrest, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
A 25-year-old man from Ajax was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule one substance, resisting arrest, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon.
The unnamed suspects were both held for bail hearings.
