The 2027 International Plowing Match (IPM) will in fact be held in Lambton County.
In a news release Thursday, the Ontario Plowmen's Association (OPA) said a previous statement released last week was inaccurate.
“Our press release of Friday, July 3, 2026 incorrectly indicated that the 2027 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo would not be held in Lambton County”, said volunteer with the Local Committee of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo, Douglas Beatty.
He said some members of the IPM Local Committee have ceased to be involved in preparations for the 2027 match, which was originally planned to be held in Brigden.
“It is the intention of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association to continue plans to host a Match in Lambton County in 2027," read the news release. " We apologize for any inconvenience which our error may have caused. Please refer any questions concerning the 2027 Match to the Ontario Plowmen’s Association”.
The OPA said within the next couple of weeks, they're dedicated to engaging and meeting with stakeholders in the 2027 event, including the local committee, sponsors and partners as well as the broader community to determine a way forward.
The IPM hasn't been held in Lambton County since it took place in Marthaville in 1991. It was staged in Alvinston in 1973 and the Sarnia area in 1923.
The historic five day event brings plowing enthusiasts, farmers and visitors from across the globe together to celebrate agricultural excellence and community spirit.
