Warwick introduces Sports Wall of Fame program

The Township of Warwick is planning to recognize those who contribute to the community's sport and recreation legacy through a new Sports Wall of Fame.

Parks and Recreation Manager Ryan Chamney said the wall will be located near the main doors of the East Lambton Community Complex.

"It's a nice visible area that I think adds a little bit of our storied history and past to one of our new, excellent recreation facilities within the community," he said.

Displays will include a photo and brief description of each inductee's accomplishments.

The township is currently accepting nominations for the Sports Wall of Fame.

Chamney said an internal selection committee will go through the applications.

"I know there will be plenty and we're excited about this process," he said. "We're looking to induct - it's flexible - but up to three candidates a year. We have three categories: we have athletes, teams, and community builders."

Nominations will be accepted until October 1.

Chamney said they're aiming to have an induction ceremony in either late fall or early winter.

Applications and further information can be found on the township's website.
