Border officials at the Blue Water Bridge have seized nearly $6.6 million worth of contraband nicotine products from commercial shipments within a three day span.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said the separate shipments all arrived from the U.S.
In an email to Sarnia News Today, a CBSA spokesperson said border officers seized approximately 61,758 nicotine vapes from a commercial driver, worth around $2.77 million, on August 7.
On August 10, border officers seized 570 kilograms of nicotine pouches from a commercial driver, valued at approximately $835,200.
Also on August 10, officers seized 3,336 kg of nicotine pouches from a commercial driver, worth about $2.98 million.
The CBSA said in these cases, the products were seized with no terms of release. It's unknown if charges are anticipated. The investigations are ongoing.
