Sting edge North Bay Battalion in at home win

After a four game losing skid the Sarnia Sting won at home Sunday afternoon 6-5 against North Bay for its Indigenous Heritage Game.

Battalion centre Brice Cooke started the scoring early three minutes into the first period.

This was quickly followed by another goal by Battalion's Dalyn Wakely to lead the Sting 2-0.

Tyson Doucette scored the first Sting goal 13 minutes into the first period.

Zach Filak was the lead scorer for the Sting and first star getting two goals.

It was the first time Carter Kostuch played against his former team since joining the Sting.

He said it felt amazing.

"It was nice to see those guys come back into our building and their on a three on three so, we knew we had to capitalize on this to get those two points and everyone showed up, everyone came to play," Kostuch said.

The Sting are now two points away from getting a playoff spot which Filak said gives the team motivation.

"Especially going up north, we need to get some points so, this is huge for us because I think we were in a four or five losing streak so, it gives us a little more motivation into the week," he said.

The Sting will play the Battalion again on Thursday in North Bay.

Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. You can catch the games live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
