Sarnia Sting Choose 9th In OHL Draft

The Sarnia Sting have 17 picks over 15 rounds in the OHL Priority Selection, including 9th overall.

The Sting will choose last in the 2nd round, a pick that originally belonged to Erie, and was acquired from Peterborough in the Nikita Korostelev deal. Their original 2nd rounder was dealt to the Windsor Spitfires back in 2012 as part of a trade for defenceman Adrian Robertson.

Sarnia will be busy in the 3rd round, with picks number 46, 49, and 53 overall.

Notable recent Sting picks include Brady Hinz, Blair Coffin, and Braden Henderson last year, Ryan McGregor, Aidan Hughes, and Kelton Hatcher in 2015, and Jakob Chychrun first overall in 2014.

American Centre Tyler Weiss was chosen 15th overall by the Sting in last year's draft. He's currently committed to Boston University for 2018.

2015 3rd rounder Quinton Hughes plans to suit up for the University of Michigan program.

The draft gets underway at 9am on Saturday, April 8.

CHOK will have all of the results as they happen.
