Windsor veterans and members of the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment will remember a dark day in Canada's military history.
On August 19, 1942, almost 5,000 Canadian soldiers took part in the ill-fated Dieppe Raid on occupied France. More than half of those who went were injured, and 916 died.
The raid marks the bloodiest single day for Canada during the Second World War.
Saturday, there is a remembrance ceremony at Dieppe Gardens along Windsor's riverfront to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the raid.
The ceremony gets underway at 1pm. Lieutenant-Colonel John Hodgins, commanding officer of the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment, will conduct a short service.
The regiment lost 121 members and suffered 550 casualties that day.
