Amherstburg Fire warns about outsiders demanding money

The Amherstburg fire department is warning the public about strangers going door to door asking for money in the name of fire safety.

The department said a company called "Community Fire Protection Inc." has been soliciting businesses for donations to their Fire Safe Tots initiative. Amherstburg fire officials said they are not affiliated with this organization and they offer free fire safety programs and supplies to all of Amherstburg.

Community Fire Protection Inc. is a non-profit organization based out of Winnipeg and is dedicated to educating communities all over Canada on fire safety around the home and office.

They promote the Fire Safe Tots program on their Facebook page as a free and interactive early child care learning resource that teaches kids about fire safety.
