Soldiers from Windsor and Chatham are participating in a U.S. live-fire exercise this weekend.
The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment will be at Camp Atterbury near Indianapolis for infantry field training from October 19 to 21. Exercise "Scottish Gunslinger" is a training exercise to keep combat units ready to fight within the 4th Canadian Division. The activity will include live-fire shooting to test soldiers in defensive and other tactics, techniques and procedures.
The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment is one of the Canadian Army Reserve’s premier light infantry regiments.
“Exercise'Scottish Gunslinger' will demonstrate our ability to field capable and qualified infantry soldiers from the Windsor-Chatham area with live-fire training that will help to improve and sustain our readiness in support of Canada’s -- and our allies’ -- defence priorities,” said Colonel Chris Poole, Commander 31 Canadian Brigade Group.
