Public comment opening for Windsor's climate change plan

The City of Windsor wants its residents to discuss how they feel about planned changes to the city's pioneering climate change plan.

The climate change adaptation plan was the first in Canada when Windsor City Council approved it in 2012. The city recently provided an update to the policy and now wants residents to have input on it.

The updated plan allows the city to build on work that has already been completed, provide suggestions on how problems can be handled moving forward, and highlight the many impacts of climate change and the effects it has already brought.

Councillors have tabled the plan, and now residents have until January 20, 2020, to read it and comment. Three information sessions have been planned this week, which are scheduled as follows.

• Tuesday, December 3 - 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre
• Thursday, December 5 - 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. - WFCU Centre
• Saturday, December 7 - 10:30 a.m. to noon - Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex

Can't make it to one of the information sessions but want to see the plan? An online version is available on the city's official website. Hard copies can also be reviewed at Windsor Public Library branches, along with selected city community centres. The locations are on the webpage, and all comments are welcomed by emailing the city.
