Holt to make transit a priority

Windsor mayoral candidate Chris Holt says he will dust off transit master plans and invest in public transit to create a robust system.

"Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been spent on the blueprints of a world-class city with input from thousands of folks and he [Mayor Drew Dilkens] chooses to ignore our potential and let it collect dust on a shelf," said Holt.

Holt indicated his first order of business would be to fund and implement the 418x route that was deferred during the last budget deliberations.

"If elected a Holt administration will honour what experts tell us we need and what our community is asking for," said Holt.

He believes the city needs to make transit a priority to make it a viable transportation choice for residents.

"It's not fair to the people to be forced to invest personally into an automobile and pay $2 L for gas, to go work at a minimum wage job somewhere. That is not fair to anybody, that is not fair to the city as a whole," said Holt.

The municipal election is on October 24, 2022.

Also running in the mayoral race are Benjamin Danyluk, Aaron Day, Drew Dilkens, Matthew Giancola, Ernie Lamont, and Louis Vaupotic.
