If elected, Windsor Ward 7 candidate Greg Lemay says he will fight for residents to have a say in new developments in the region.
While campaigning, Lemay says he has learned many residents are concerned about flooding and road safety as more high-density buildings are proposed.
"We're the fastest growing area and it's concerning. I commit to push for an overdue overpass at E.C. Row and Banwell Road, more investment to protect homes from basement flooding, modernize sewers, critical improvements to our roads including fixing the dangerous intersections in and around Ward 7," said Lemay.
Lemay admits the housing is needed in the region, but says it should be done to fit within the current neighborhoods.
"At the end of the day we know we need to build, but we gotta do it smart. We have to do it responsibly, and we have to make sure that the infrastructure is there," said Lemay.
He'd also like to implement policies to ensure when these new builds are approved they include units for all users like affordable housing, those who want to rent, and those who would like to own.
Also running in Ward 7 are Sydney Brouillard-Coyle, incumbent Jeewen Gill, Angelo Marignani, and Sophia Sevo.
The municipal election is on October 24, 2022.
