Voters in Amherstburg have decided Michael Prue will be the town's new mayor.
Prue was challenged by Frank Cerasa, John LaFramboise, and Bob Rozankovic.
With five of seven tabulators reporting, Prue lead with 48.93 per cent of the vote (3,488 votes), Bob Rozankovic was the second closest challenger with 21.46 per cent of the vote (1,530 votes), followed by Frank Cerasa (1,073 votes), and John LaFramboise (1,038 votes).
"I am feeling elated right now," said Prue. "I will tell you, I was a bit nervous today."
According to Prue, the town's economy, fiscal responsibility, and commerce are his top priorities.
"I am desperately pushing for a new industry in commerce," said Prue. "I think we can piggyback with Stellantis, and get something here."
Chris Gibb has been elected Amherstburg's Deputy Mayor. He was challenged by Nancy Atkinson, Gregory Moore, Dennis Sanson, and Joe Shaw.
Gibb lead by 39 per cent of the vote (2,766 votes), followed by Nancy Atkinson with 24.05 of the vote (1,706 votes), Joe Shaw (1,110 votes), Dennis Sanson (841 votes0, and Gregory Moore (670 votes).
Incumbent councillors Donald McArthur and Peter Courtney have been re-elected to council.
Linden Crain, Molly Allaire, and former councillor Diane Pouget will make up the other three seats.
Essex
There's a new mayor in the town of Essex.
Sherry Bondy won the mayoral race with 3,794 votes, while Richard Meloche had 3,211 votes.

"The polls were really busy, so that in itself is a victory," said Bondy. "We worked extremely hard this campaign, we did not take the pedal off the metal the entire time."
Bondy, who started planning her campaign four years ago, said she is ready to hit the ground running.
"We need to review our roads, we need to talk about this election, and how it wasn't really accessible for some people," said Bondy.
Rob Shepley was elected Deputy Mayor with 3,581 votes. Former councillor Ron Rogers had 3,197.
For Ward 1 councillor, incumbent Joe Garon was re-elected with 1,828 votes. Katie McGuire-Blais was elected with 1,186 votes, beating incumbent Morley Bowman.
Incumbent Kim Verbeek is acclaimed for the single Ward 2 position.
In Ward 3, incumbent Chris Vander Doelen was defeated by Brad Allard with 1,063 votes. Recent appointee Jason Matyi was re-elected with 1,038 votes.
In Ward 4, Rodney Hammond was elected with 626 votes, beating challenger Shawn Mulder with 475 votes.
