Public school board to celebrate opening of North Star High School

Amherstburg's new high school has been open since September, but the Greater Essex County District School Board is celebrating on Wednesday night.

North Star High School is holding an open house.

Between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., the public can tour the building, learn about the programs offered there, and enjoy the talents of its students.

Construction on the new building cost $24.3-million and is at 330 Simcoe Street.

The school houses the combined populations of the former General Amherst High School and Western High Schools, which closed last year.

The school's name takes inspiration from the migration of those escaping slavery in the U.S.
