What's open and closed in Windsor-Essex for the Civic Holiday?

We're at the peak of summer, and some people will be taking a long weekend and have Monday off.

Monday is the Civic Holiday, a statutory holiday in Ontario. With that, you may see some institutions around Windsor-Essex either closed or on shortened hours.

All provincial and municipal offices will be closed on Monday. That includes Service Ontario branches, though many transactions, such as licence plate and health card renewals, may be performed online.

Most banks and credit unions will be closed Monday.

Select locations of the LCBO and The Beer Store will be open, both from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to phone ahead or check online for hours at your favourite location.

Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. Tecumseh Mall in Windsor will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All Windsor Public Library and Essex County Library branches will be closed Monday.

The 311 call centre will be closed Monday, and open on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 211 call centre will operate 24 hours as usual.

In the City of Windsor, residential garbage and yard waste collection will not take place on Monday, and be delayed by one day. Commercial trash and recycling collection will proceed as usual. Refer to the City's collection calendar for more information.

The public drop-off and chemical waste disposal facilities on Central Avenue are closed Monday, but open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There is no parking enforcement in the City of Windsor on the Civic Holiday. Street-metered parking will be free, though garages and surface lots will be paid as usual. Traffic enforcement payment offices are closed, though payments can still be made online.

Transit Windsor buses are running on the Sunday and holiday schedule. The customer service office at the Chatham Street West terminal will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday. The sales office on North Service Road East will be closed.

The day program at the Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4) at Windsor Water World will be open as usual from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The H-4 Hub is open every day to people who are experiencing homelessness.

All community centres and arenas in the City of Windsor are closed Monday with the exception of pre-scheduled or previously-booked rentals.

Sandpoint Beach in east Windsor will be open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, weather and water quality permitting. All the City's park-based splash pads will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Atkinson, Central, Mic Mac, Remington Booster, and Riverside Centennial outdoor pools will be open from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. for recreational swimming. The indoor pool at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre is open for fit lanes from noon to 4 p.m. The indoor pools at the WFCU Centre and Marcus Community Centre will be closed.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Monday.

The Lakeview Park Marina's office and fuel dock will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the launch ramps will be open at 6 a.m. Peche Island boat tours will not run on Monday.

The Chimczuk Museum and the Francois Baby House will be closed Monday, their normal off days.
