Need to get out of the heat? Here's where to go in Windsor

Extremely hot and humid weather is on the way, and the City of Windsor is reminding residents without air conditioning, there are places to go to get out of the heat.

The city's splash pads are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. There are 11 in Windsor.

Windsor Public Library branches and City Customer Care Centres are open and offer water-filling stations and fountains to stay hydrated.

The Homelessness and Housing Help Hub on Wyandotte Street East is open for those experiencing homelessness 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit releases heat advisories and warnings when daytime highs reach or exceed 31 Celcius for two or more consecutive days with nighttime lows above 21 Celcius or when the humidex reaches 42 Celcius or higher.

Environment Canada forecasts a stretch of hot days starting on Saturday that will reach at least 30 Celcius. Temperatures are expected to hit 35 C on Sunday, 36 C on Monday, and 35 C on Tuesday.

Outdoor pools in the city won't open until Saturday, June 28.
