The Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers has a new sustainable infrastructure development lead.
Evan Smith was appointed recently.
In his new role, Smith will lead sustainable infrastructure initiatives, support Ontario's greenhouse vegetable sector by advancing energy efficiency, environmental stewardship, and long-term competitiveness.
The OGVG said his expertise in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and research-driven solutions made him an obvious choice.
Smith's previous experience includes serving as the program and policy assistant with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. During his time in that post, he helped roll out the Automated License Plate Renewal Program and supported the development of new fraud policies and procedures.
He also led a research team at the New Brunswick Research Institute for Research, Data, and Training, and has written reports on equity and inclusion in Canadian universities.
Smith holds a Master of International Public Policy from the Balsillie School of International Affairs at Wilfred Laurier University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of New Brunswick.
