A local veterinary clinic has recognized a major procedural milestone.
The Community Veterinary Clinic Windsor-Essex completed its 1,000th spay or neuter procedure this week.
The patient was Lio, an Australian Shepherd. Clinic founder Melanie Coulter said the canine is already linked to the clinic.
"Lio was also the first animal to benefit from Community Veterinary Clinic’s walk-in microchip services, making this visit especially meaningful," said Coulter.
Coulter, the former executive director of the Windsor Essex County Humane Society, opened the clinic in the fall of 2025 with Dr. Kayla Beetham, the humane society's former director of shelter medicine.
The clinic, at 333 Holden Avenue in Windsor, provides accessible veterinary care, vaccinations, microchipping, compassionate end-of-life care, and other services. The establishment is open to anyone regardless of income or geographical area.
A public open house will take place at the clinic on Sunday, February 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., to celebrate the milestone.
