Firefighters fight heat along with fires in Belle River and Amherstburg

After hours in yesterday's heat, fighting a house fire in Amherstburg, three firefighters are back on the job.

They, along with a fourth firefighter who suffered a minor injury, were treated at the scene of the fire on McBride Avenue on Thursday.

They were called to the two-storey home around 2:30 p.m. and realized quickly they were dealing with an aggressive fire.

Amherstburg Fire Chief Michael Mio said no one living in the home was hurt, but four people are displaced.

The fire has been ruled accidental after it caused $600,000 in damage. The fire started in the mechanical room in the basement and spread to the second floor.

Meanwhile, Lakeshore Fire Service responded to a blaze at a home on Dupuis Street near Broadway Street in Belle River.

Crews responded to the fire just after midnight on Friday.

One person escaped from the home without injuries and is now displaced.

Lakeshore Fire said the cause was accidental. The estimated cost of the damage is $400,000.
