Windsor-Essex Stellantis workers donate over $825K to United Way

It was a banner year at Stellantis Canada for contributions to the local United Way.

Representatives from Stellantis presented a cheque for $825,670.26 to the United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent during an event on Thursday at Windsor's Catholic Central High School (CCHS).

CCHS is a participating school in the United Way's On Track to Success program.

The donation was made possible through contributions from Stellantis employees and retirees in Windsor-Essex, including those at Chrysler Canada headquarters and the Windsor Assembly Plant.

It is the largest contribution to the local United Way ever, an 11 per cent increase from last year's Stellantis campaign.

"Our employees and retirees continue to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to strengthening the communities where we live and work," said Stellantis Canada President Trevor Longley. "Through their generosity, we are helping ensure local students and families have access to essential support, from education and technology to mental health resources, so they can succeed in the year ahead."

A 2027 Chrysler Pacifica minivan and a 2027 Dodge Charger were filled with new backpacks jammed with school supplies. These will be distributed to local students to ensure that they are ready for the resumption of classes in September.

The donation will support the United Way's efforts to improve access to academic support and technology for local students, mental health counselling, and the regional food bank network.

"Stellantis, Unifor Local 444 and 195 have been extraordinary partners who share our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed," said United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent CEO Lorraine Goddard. "Their continued generosity reflects a deep commitment to helping young people reach their full potential through education and the support they need to thrive."
