As summer rolls along, the Municipality of Lakeshore has reminded people using its parks to be mindful of others.
The Municipality has seen large crowds in its parks this summer, particularly at Lakeview Park and Optimist Park. With that, there has been an increase in complaints about loud music, engine revving, shouting, and other noise.
"Respect for others is an important part of keeping our parks and outdoor amenities welcoming for everyone," said Lakeshore Executive Director of Community Services Vanessa Stratton. "Lakeshore’s parks are extremely popular destinations, and we want everyone to be able to enjoy them. Part of that means being mindful of your own noise levels and considering how they may impact others."
By-law officers will be on hand for the rest of the summer, patrolling parks to ensure compliance with the noise by-laws.
Officers will also be on the lookout for other issues, such as smoking, the use of motorized vehicles, including scooters, the lighting of fires and barbecues, littering, and not cleaning up after pets.
Park visitors and nearby residents may report noise issues via the portal on the Municipality's official website.
