Spray To Replace Antibiotics For Chickens?

A new research project could lead to an alternative to antibiotics for the poultry industry.

The University of Saskatchewan's Western College of Veterinary Medicine is working on an immunity-boosting aerosol protectant for chickens.

It's being developed in partnership with a number of poultry farms in Saskatchewan and B-C.

The federal government has announced a 400 thousand dollar investment in the project.

The money is to help the researchers further develop and commercialize the technology.

University of Saskatchewan spokesperson Karen Chad says it's an innovative ideal for treating bacterial infections that will provide Canadian poultry producers with another effective tool in their flock health kit.
