New Talks In CCAC Strike

The Ministry of Labour is inviting the Ontario Nurses' Association and CCAC employers to exploratory talks in Toronto on Thursday as nearly 3,000 striking health professionals remain on the picket lines.

The two sides were last at the negotiating table January 19 before community care access workers went on strike January 30.

ONA Vice President Vicki McKenna calls the meeting a good sign and is hopeful the employer will show.

"We do hope that the CCAC employer group will be there and be prepared to have a serious discussion so we can get this back on track and get these workers back to their jobs," says McKenna. "We're thinking about it as the glass half full."

McKenna adds roughly 600 supporters are expected to hold a rally on Thursday outside of the ministry building in Toronto where the meeting is scheduled for a 10am start.
