Snow Melt Still Affecting Watershed

Despite colder temperatures slowing melting, officials are still expecting water levels to rise in the area.

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority says some smaller watercourses have reached bank full conditions or topped their banks. The Indian-McGregor Creek Diversion Channel will be in operation for a few more days until water levels lower further.

Levels on the Thames River are also expected to rise. While officials don't expect flows on the Thames to prompt flooding, ice cover continues to deteriorate. The river has also partially opened up in some areas, and recreational activities are no longer safe on the Thames.

The LTVCA is advising residents to take caution when near any area waterways. The combination of slippery banks, as well as moving water and ice can be deadly.
