Chrysler CEO Thinks The Future Is Bright In Windsor

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Canada is optimistic about its future in Windsor, as it celebrates 90 years north of the American border.

Unifor Local 444's contract with Chrysler is set to expire in 15 months, but FCA Canada President and CEO Reid Bigland says a recent $2-billion investment speaks to the company's belief in the work being done in Windsor. "It's largely unprecedented with respect to the size of the investments we've been making in our Canadian operations, and when you look at how we're doing in the sales arena, it's never been stronger."

A celebration of Chrysler Canada -- now FCA Canada's -- 90th anniversary was held this week in Dieppe Park, on Windsor's riverfront. Bigland doesn't think there's any reason Chrysler can't make it another 90 years in Canada.

The CEO says contract talks with the UAW are starting over the next couple of days, but FCA Canada won't likely start negotiating with Unifor until September of next year.
