CKPL Adds To Digital Roster, Takes Learning Online

You'll soon have access to free education at your fingertips.

The Chatham-Kent Public Library is beginning to offer hundreds of instructor-led courses online, at no cost.

Branch librarian Kate McCullough says the programs will give you the opportunity to go back to school, without actually having to.

"The courses aren't accredited, so they are just purely for your personal education," says McCullough. "It's also just an extension of all the information that we already have on our shelves...and we're always supporting people's education."

Every course is coordinated by a professional instructor, who McCullough says is also there to answer questions, provide feedback, and facilitate discussions, entirely online.

She says the programs run six-weeks in length, with new lessons released every week, and there's no limit to how many you can take.

And how could you choose just one, says McCullough, who adds no matter your interests chances are there's a course for that.

"There's a wide variety of these courses," she says. "Anything from business to accounting to personal development such as photography and technology, as well as how to write and how to publish."

McCullough says all you need to enroll is the Internet and a library card.
