CK Plans To Highlight Local Athletes

The Chatham-Kent Museum is preparing to showcase local athletes who have represented Canada in the Olympics.

They'll do so be opening a new exhibit called "CK. Faster. Higher. Stronger."

Museum Curator Stephanie Saunders says they're looking to open the exhibit in fall 2017, and have it run during the winter Olympics.

She adds there's at least 15 local athletes who have competed in the Olympics and the list keeps growing.

"We're hoping to get artifacts from the athletes who participated," says Saunders. "Anything that sort of highlights their Olympic experience and helps us to tell their story."

However, in order to share those stories, the museum needs help from the public.

Locals are being asked to loan or donate memorabilia for the exhibit. Saunders says things like clothing, equipment, and medals would help.

So far, she says they have received some contributions but they're in need of more.

"Things are looking positive for an exhibit," she says.

Those willing to donate or loan artifacts are asked to contact the museum by April 28.
