Worst Roads Campaign Not Just About Potholes

The Canadian Automobile Association is launching its 14th annual Worst Roads campaign.

Raymond Chan, the government relations specialist for CAA South-Central Ontario, says 86% of roads that get votes typically have potholes, but the agency also wants to hear about roads that might need to become more pedestrian or bike-friendly.

"There's a real big push out there to have an active society, so having an active mode of transportation such as cycling and or walking are certainly priorities for local governments," he describes.

Chan says about 2,500 Ontario roads nominated last year, which is the most CAA has seen in any year of the survey.

He believes it's helped expedite many road projects, especially in large city's across the province, because they tend to have a bit more room in their budgets.
