Ontario Provincial Police say three drivers died over the long holiday weekend in the province.
The OPP released finalized traffic figures from the Civic Holiday weekend, reporting three fatal collisions.
The first was on Friday, August 4 when a 20-year-old woman was killed in a crash in Peterborough. The other two incidents took place on Monday. One claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman in Lanark County, the other a 22-year-old man in southern Georgian Bay.
Police also released the figures from their "Move Over" campaign blitz, which happened over the long weekend. A total of 413 charges were laid against drivers who failed to move over at least one lane when an emergency vehicle or tow truck with its lights on was at the roadside.
Ontario law states that a driver must move over one lane if it is safe to do so. If not, the driver must reduce speed while passing the emergency vehicle or tow truck.
The OPP would like to thank drivers for complying with the law, as well as keeping first responders and tow truck operators safe.
