It looks like the Cross Country Manufacturing plant in Blenheim has a buyer.
The latest documents presented to a Winnipeg court show that the company has a December 5 date set aside to approve the sale and a December 8 date to present a plan to pay dozens of creditors and suppliers millions of dollars in arrears. Cross Country says it's currently working towards finalizing an "unconditional Asset Purchase Agreement" for the sale of the Blenheim plant. A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning in Winnipeg court to officially approve the third extension requested by the Manitoba company
Cross Country has been trying to sell its Blenheim plant for months because it says it has a cash flow problem but continues to operate on a cash on delivery basis. Local creditors include; Tilbury Steel, which is owed $233,000, Tirecraft in Chatham, which is owed $181,000, and Pinwood Truck Parts in Chatham, which is owed $53,000. Dowler Karn Fuels in Chatham is owed $21,000, Entegrus in Chatham is owed $18,000, and G&K Services in Windsor is owed $12,000.
Cross Country Manufacturing got $550,000 from the province in October of 2016 to expand the Blenheim plant and create 100 new jobs.
