The Windsor Express stumbled out of the gate Sunday afternoon and paid the price.
Windsor fell behind in the first half and were outscored by 20 points in the third quarter, leading to a 119-97 loss to the Niagara River Lions at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines.
It's the first loss of the season for the Express, who are now 2-1 on the young season.
Logan Stutz led the scoring for Windsor for the second game in a row, with 21 points over 36 minutes of play. Maurice Jones sank another 17 points including an eight-for-11 in field goals. Shaquille Keith scored 17 points off the bench.
The Express struggled on the boards. Devin White led the team with five rebounds and three players had four each.
Despite getting 23 points off turnovers, the Express struggled on three-point shots and at one point were behind by 32 points.
Niagara built a ten-point lead after the first quarter and held a 59-48 lead at halftime. Windsor was outdueled in the third quarter 38-18 and were unable to effectively get back into the game.
Marvell Waithe, Guillaume Boucard and Carl Hall each put 16 points through the hoop for Niagara. Samuel Muldrow collected a double-double with ten points plus a team-leading 17 rebounds.
Windsor is off until Wednesday, December 6, when they travel out east and take on the Cape Breton Highlanders.
